Club News

  June, 2010 - The Larry Young fishing derby was a success, despite the intervals of pouring rain.
  April 21, 2010 - The Club donated a Wii to the Abington Senior Center. The Abington Journal was there.
  February 13-14, 2010 - We worked at the Clarks Summit Ice Festival selling food and drinks to the many visitors.
  November 25, 2009 - The Abington Journal included an article about our upcoming Santa project.
  November 19, 2009 - We held our Charter Night dinner, celebrating 60 years of serving the Abington communities.
  March 28, 2009 - The club donated a bench to the Abington Library in memory of charter member Joseph Caputo.
  February 12-15, 2009 - The Ice Festival is a popular annual event in Clarks Summit. We sold food in the CS Boro building. This year's festival had a renaissance theme, complete with people in costume.
  December, 2008 - Santa delivered presents to over 400 children in the Abington area. This annual project has been run for nearly 50 years.
  November 29, 2008 - Our club provided free coffee, hot chocolate and snacks at the I-81 North rest stop on Wednesday and Friday. We had the opportunity to talk to many travelers. The cold temperatures made the hot cocoa a popular request. We're happy to report that no Lions were frost-bitten in the delivery of this project. :-)
  October 4, 2008 - We participated in the Day of Action by cleaning Route 6 between the Ramada Inn and Wellington's Pub. The Day of Action was September 27th, but we postponed the cleanup due to rain.
  July 1, 2008 - The Abington Lions Club donated $2,500 to the Abington Little League toward their Concession Stand Project. The estimated cost of the project is $80K. Link to Abington Journal.
